October 7, 2004 Vancouver's Most Stylish and Contemporary Boutique Hotel Now Offers A Hit of Oxygen! (VANCOUVER, Canada) - Take a hit, take a deep hit - after all it's good for you! OPUS Hotel is now offering the ultimate in affordable, portable, personal luxury - hand held oxygen dispensers in every room. Lightweight and compact, these durable little OXIA oxygen canisters are small enough to fit into a purse or briefcase. The canister holds four minutes or 10 to 12 usages of 20 seconds of 90% pure oxygen. Specialists and scientists have researched the benefits of breathing clean oxygen for years. It has been proven that breathing oxygen stimulates human cells, increases the body's metabolism, and provides for increased energy and exercise performance. Used as an antioxidant to neutralize toxins, oxygen is reputably a powerful tool for combating hangovers. Other benefits include strengthening of the immune system, aiding in digestion, and overall improvement of cognitive performance. Opus, Canada's first hotel to make the product available for their guest's use, charges CA$14.95 (approx US$12) for the use of a full OXIA dispenser. Guests are also welcome to take the refillable canister home for CA$89.95 (US$72.00). The hotel returns used canisters to an OXIA bottling plant, where they are recycled, refilled and sent back to the hotel full of fresh oxygen. Daniel Craig, Opus Hotel's General Manager, believes that OXIA will be very popular, and is a great addition to the many unique and surprising features of the hotel. “Our guests expect Opus to push the envelope, to introduce them to new designs, new ideas and high-end products,” said Craig. “OXIA does all of that.” OXIA cofounder Bryce Margetts said the product is a personalized, more convenient grandchild of oxygen bars that became popular in the 1990's. “Having the product in a small personal container in your room is a lot more convenient,” said Margetts. He says that five or six deep breaths from the canister are recommended for “a pickup.” Voted one of the World's Best Places to Stay by readers of Condé Nast Traveler magazine, OPUS is Vancouver's most stylish and contemporary boutique hotel. Set in fashionable Yaletown, OPUS is steps from the inner harbour, entertainment, shopping, spas and some of the city's best restaurants. The hotel's 96 guestrooms & suites feature vibrant colours, oversized windows and five unique décor schemes. A member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, OPUS is home to popular French brasserie Elixir and the eclectic OPUS Bar. For reservations call 1-866-642-6787 or visit www.opushotel.com.
