Border Crossings – In Full Swing

April/May 2009

The 2010 winter Olympics will take place in Vancouver from February 12 to 28. The city’s hotels are already showing off their coolness. Take the Opus Hotel, for example. The countdown to the 21st Winter Olympics has already begun. Why not get a head start on finding the best place to stay? The Opus Hotel, located in the trendy Yaletown district, has issued an invitation to be part of the scene. It aims to show that the metropolis on the pacific has earned it’s reputation as a cool place without a trace of frostiness.
The hotel, which also features the restaurant Elixir, gives a prominent role to design. Reducing things to bare essentials makes sense given Vancouver’s numerous urban, culinary, and natural attractions, all within easy walking distance of the award-winning Opus. The parks and the marinas are particularly close to the hotel. Inside the Opus is committed to a tasteful play of colors in its different design concepts, ranging from minimalist to eccentric, prevent the monotony that comes with conformity. The swinging lines of the undulating roofs above the entrance promise a panache that is sustained – and not just architecturally – in the hotel’s interior.
