North by Northwest - Gotham Magazine
George Wayne

Suffice it to say, the Opus is the "face" place of Vancouver at the moment. Elixir, the French brasserie in the busy lobby of the hotel, is not only one of the hottest restaurants in the city, but one of the many novelties of the 97-room jewel of a luxury hostelry, where no two rooms are alike. John Evans, the Canadian billionaire and visionary behind the brilliant "opus", says the first time he saw the seven-story heritage building in the city's version of SoHo, Yaletown, he knew it was destined to be his next project, Vancouver's boutique hotel. And here it is, $30 million later, the talk of the town. And believe GW: There is no better hotel room anywhere than 407 of the Opus - whose firm, stylish king-size bed is swathed in Frette linens and cashmere blankets - to have the most incredible sex of your life. And talk about well appointed. There's the plasma TV, the high-speed Internet access, the huge, spa-like stainless steel bathroom with oversize vanities, walk-in shower and unlimited supply of Goldie Hawn's favorite beauty products from L'Occitane. Ben & Jen could check into the Opus for a four-day weekend to work out the details of their prenuptial agreement and never have reason to leave.
