Location: Yaletown, a trendy neighbourhood that is home to dot.coms and film companies.

Size: 97 rooms, including 19 Suites.

Service: There's a complimentary chauffeur service, a dedicated personal shopper and an extensive pet-care scheme.

Food: The lobby Opus bar serves tapas and cocktails; Elixir is a French brasserie; Parisian-style Café O is a coffee bar.

View: For the best view, request a courtyard room overlooking the third-floor Japanese Zen garden.

Best thing: The voyeuristic ‘spa bathrooms’ with floor-to-ceiling windows in the showers. Non exhibitionists can use the blinds.

Worst thing: The voyeuristic ‘spa bathrooms’ (see above).

X-factor: It's the latest place to be seen (the hotel only opened last month) - expect to find visiting Hollywood stars here.
