What You Said: "I had to take a trip to Vancouver recently for work and I remembered an article from your mag that had caught my eye. In it you mentioned a cool hotel in Vancouver that would appeal to New Yorkers and Southern Californians alike, THE OPUS. But it was the pic that intrigued me most, so I checked it out online, called and booked and expected to be disapointed (no offense, but magazines tend to make everything sound like the second coming). Long story short, I wasn't disappointed in the least. In fact, I spent the trip wishing I wasn't there on my own since I had a great room that had a totally sexy vibe. And the hotel bar actually seemed to be one of the best scenes in town with a hip, lively crowd. Next time I visit, I'll be sure to bring a playmate and stay in."

What We Say: Wow, it's an honor just to be nominated . . . this is just so unexpected. . . All kidding aside, thanks for giving us credit for bringing this place to your attention, but it's The Opus who should get the award. In a couple of short years, this very chic boutique hotel has put itself on the map in a significant way, leading with great decor, great cuisine and great marks for their service. The Opus actually first appeared on our radar scopes as part of last year's travel coverage ("Style Central", Sept/Oct/Nov 2003), when it was voted a "hip hotel" by the style mavens we surveyed for a special feature on where the truly stylish among us play. And after a little investigation, we reported on how Hollywood types like Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez and Chris Noth had become fans ("Celebrity Confidential", April/May 2004), so count yourself in good company! www.opushotel.com
