To stand above the fray of today's ubiquitous boutique hotels, the Opus Hotel decided to offer not one, but five diverse decorating schemes. “We wanted each of the rooms to have a personality,” explains Susan Smallenberg, a principal and director of Architectura. Our favorite is the beach bungalow-inspired bedroom/living room, which evokes Jane Mansfield in Malibu. With more than a touch of Basquiat, the room bursts to life with a Crayola color scheme that gives a drab urban experience a Technicolor twist. Doors decorated with yellow checkered pattern let you know you're entering an amicable environment. A faux rabbit fur ottoman/desk lets you know the inhabitant doesn't take life too seriously. The choice of cool stainless steel lamps highlights the festive color schemes. Gold pillows add a touch of natural light to ignite the blaze of colors. It's the perfect environment for your next literary salon. For Media information please
